Motorists should brace themselves for more closures as crews work on building the $55 million Pelandale Avenue interchange at Highway 99 in north Modesto.
The city will close the southbound highway offramp at Pelandale from Tuesday through May 18 and close the Pelandale Avenue-Sisk Road intersection for 50 hours from 10 p.m. May 15 through midnight May 17.
CityPublic Works Director Bill Sandhu said the offramp closure is necessary so crews can work on part of the ramp that connects to the interchange’s bridge, which spans the highway. He said the intersection needs to be closed so crews can reconstruct it, which includes opening new traffic lanes, connecting lanes from the bridge to the intersection, and reconstructing the roadway.
He said both closures are part of the project’s schedule.
